Johan Svanstrom is Vice President and Managing Director Hotels.com Asia Pacific, part of the Expedia group, a role in which he is responsible for building Hotels.com business across the Asia Pacific region. Alongside this Svanstrom also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of NASDAQ listed eLong, China’s second largest online travel agency, which is majority owned by Expedia.
Prior to joining Hotels.com, Svanstrom was Head of the Digital Innovations Group at McDonald’s Corporation for three years, based at their headquarters in Chicago, USA. Before this, Svanstrom was CEO of Freefund NV in the Netherlands, an online database company matching university students with corporations and employers across Europe.
Between 1997 and 1999 Svanstrom served as Vice President of Business Development at Glocalnet, a voice-over-IP telecom company, which he helped take public on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
Mr. Svanstrom holds an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics. He is based in the Expedia APAC headquarters in Hong Kong.
