John Hsin joined Highland Capital in 2008 with 15 years of experience in venture capital, start-up operations, and investment banking. John focuses on investments in the areas of Internet, media, wireless, and e-commerce. While at Highland, John was involved in the investments of Tuniu, GameWave, and Viva. Prior to Highland, John was a Director at Intel Capital China where he led or co-led the firm’s investments in LuckyPai, 51.com, China Digital Video, and Adsit Media. John started his VC career at the San Francisco headquarters of Walden International where he was involved in the investments of About.com, Looksmart, and SINA. John started his professional career in 1992 as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in New York. Later on he was relocated to Hong Kong, where he was one of first employees of the firm’s China team.
John holds a B.S. in Physics from Vassar College, a Bachelor of Engineering from Dartmouth College, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
